Effective 24 September 2026
You can play DoubleSur without giving us anything at all. Games against the AI never contact our server. An account is needed only to play online with other people, and an account is a username, a display name and your game record — nothing else.
This policy covers the DoubleSur apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and Windows, and the server they talk to during online play. It describes what the app actually does. If you find a difference between this page and the app's behaviour, the difference is a bug — please tell us.
We receive nothing. Offline games, the player profiles you create on the device, your statistics and your settings all stay on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, and the app makes no network request to play a local game.
An account exists so other players can see who they are playing with, and so your record follows you between devices. We store:
| What | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Username | How you sign in | Our server |
| Password | To check it is you. Stored only as a bcrypt hash — we never store, and cannot recover, the password itself | Our server |
| Display name, avatar icon and colour | Shown to the other players at your table | Our server |
| Game record — games and sets played and won, tricks, coats, doubles, winning streaks | Your career statistics, and the ranking of online games | Our server |
| A sign-in token | So you are not asked to sign in every time you open the app | Your device only |
While an online game is in progress, the server passes each table's moves between the players at that table. Those messages are not kept once the game ends. What is kept is the result: who played, which team won, and the statistics above.
No email address. No phone number. No real name, unless you type one as your display name. No location. No contacts, photos or files. No advertising identifier. No crash or analytics reporting. There are no third-party trackers, advertising SDKs or analytics services in the app — not disabled ones, none at all.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone except as needed to run the game, described below.
You can delete your account from inside the app, at any time, without asking us: Play Online → sign in → Delete Account.
This permanently removes your account, your display name and your statistics from our server. It cannot be undone. Deleting the app by itself does not delete your account — use the button first if that is what you want. Full details, and how to ask us to do it if you cannot reach the app, are on the account and data page.
The server runs on Railway, with a PostgreSQL database, and all traffic between the app and the server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS and secure WebSockets). Railway processes this data on our behalf as our hosting provider and under its own terms.
DoubleSur is free and contains no purchases today. If a paid upgrade is added later, the payment itself is handled entirely by Apple's App Store, Google Play or the Microsoft Store — we never see or handle your card details. We would store only the fact that your account has the upgrade, so that it works on every device you sign in on.
DoubleSur has no chat and no messaging: there is no way for players to send each other free-form text. The only things another player sees about you are the display name you choose and your game record. Please do not use your real name, an email address or anything else personal as a display name — the people you play with can see it.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, delete it in the app or write to us and we will remove it.
You can see everything we hold about you from inside the app — it is your profile and your statistics — and you can erase all of it with the Delete Account button. If you would like a copy of it, or have any other request about your information, write to us and we will help.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, the revised version will be published on this page with a new effective date, and the app will say so on its main menu.
